End of season win brings Millennium Shield back!
Dundee’s men won the NUVOC Millennium Shield last Saturday with a spirited performance to come back from 2 sets to 0 down. Both sides were missing players. Dundee had 3 starters missing and found themselves 17/10 up in the opening set with controlled play and aggressive serving. NUVOC hit back and helped by a series of errors, took the lead at 21/20. They held out to win the set 25/23. The second set followed a similar pattern with Dundee up 10/7 and then losing runs of points to lose the set 18/25. Neither side had replacements available and both sides traded points in the third set. Dundee were always 2 points ahead and with Tony Gadzhev, Lewis Crockart and Michal Kowalski all scoring well, Dundee took the set 25/19.
Things looked bleak in the fourth set as NUVOC had a 14/10 lead. Kowalski , Gadzhev and Oz Dowie hauled Dundee back into the set and they squeezed home to win 25/23 to tie the match. Both sides scored break points and the score was 8/8 at the change of ends. A series of service errors from the Edinburgh side gave Dundee easy points and Rad Marinov and Lewis Crockart finished off the set 16/14 for an impressive 3/2 win.
