LADIES LABOUR AGAIN AGAINST NUVOC
Like the mens side the ladies had a repeat opposition with NUVOC the visitors. The sides met early in October with NUVOC winning 3/0 with ease. The Edinburgh side, packed with foreign players, took an early 10/6 lead as the Dundee attack failed to find the floor. Dundee’s own foreign attack of Arianna Scarponi and Natalia Stopowska both hit form and the home side had a 12/10 lead. The NUVOC service was too strong for the home receive unit and soon restored the lead. Scores from Claire Pollock and Agnes Bednarek hauled the home side closer at 18/21 but the service won the set for the visitors 5/18. The second set followed a similar pattern with NUVOC in the lead 9/6. Scores from Stopowska and Lucy Wishart helped take the lead at 15/13. Both sides traded points and the home side had a 21/20 lead but the NUVOC service came to their rescue again as they finished the set to in 25/20. The third set started in a bur as NUVOC took an 11/1 lead with service and counter-attacks as Dundee failed to hit the floor with the ball. Natalia Stopowska was theDundee saviour as she hit 7 winners, Agnes Bednarek added 2 scores to haul the team closer to 11/15. NUVOC then piled on the pressure and mental fatigue took a heavy toll on the Dundee girls as the set drifted away 15/25.
